Abstract
The topic of the present work is mainly concerned with the numerical simulations of the response of a ship structure submitted to a far-field underwater explosion. The goal is to preserve sailing functions of the ship and the integrity of sensitive areas. We are in particular interested in the numerical response of ship hulls to the first, high energy shock wave induced by the explosion by considering various constitutive models and boundary conditions. This systematic study shows clearly the necessity of accounting for strain and strain rate hardening as well as thermal and damage softening.
