Abstract
The dynamic response of clamped steel and/or composite plate to the loading by the detonation of buried explosive charge has been studied. Cylindrical explosive charges with a mass of 8 kg have been used. Homogeneous as well as layered plates have been considered. Experiments were followed by the numerical analysis performed by LS DYNA finite element code. The effects of structure representations (solids or shells) and of computational mesh size on evaluation of the structure response has been studied in details. Numerical results exhibited reasonable agreement with experimental ones. It means that the used constitutive equations can be applied for the numerical simulation of armoured vehicle response to blast antitank mines.
