DYMAT 2006 is the eighth International Conference organised by the DYMAT Association and the fifth since European statutes were agreed in 1991.

As before, this congress will provide opportunities for fruitful exchanges between academics, government scientists and industrialists to advance the understanding of the dynamic behaviour of materials.

The conference covers theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches to the various methods used to study the mechanical behaviour of materials at high rates of strain. Along with presentations of academic research, the organisers are keen to encourage presentations based on specific industrial applications.

In addition, the DYMAT Association will award a prize for the best PhD thesis in the field of the mechanical behaviour of materials at high strain-rates. Theses approved since June 2003 can be submitted to the Thesis Award Committee.
